Why choose Dr. Caballero?

She is one of the best trained sinus specialists in Illinois

Dr. Caballero is a Rhinologist, an Otolaryngologist who has undergone additional training (called a fellowship) focused on the nose and sinuses. Compared to a general ENT, Dr. Caballero has a deeper understanding of diseases of the nose, paranasal sinuses and skull base and can perform more advanced surgical procedures. These include a Modified Lothrop procedure (also called a Draff III procedure or endoscopic frontal drillout), endoscopic medial maxillectomy for tumors of the sinuses like inverted papilloma, endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) for lacrimal duct obstruction and endoscopic transphenoidal approach to the pituitary gland. She is also an expert at performing Revision Functional Endoscopic Surgery, for patients with recalcitrant chronic sinusitis who have had prior surgical intervention. In addition, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and is able to treat patients with all available modalities of immunotherapy. She is the only physician in the Park Ridge area who provides the type of comprehensive sinus and airway care that is typically found only in major academic centers.

She understands your problems

Understanding your disease is the key to choosing the proper treatment. Dr. Caballero schedules 30 minute (not 15 minute) appointments for new patients. This extra time allows her to listen to you to fully understand your symptoms. In addition, Dr. Caballero uses a comprehensive diagnostic approach that includes nasal endoscopy, CT scanning, allergy testing and DNA testing of your sinonasal microbiome to specifically diagnose your condition and get you on the road to recovery.

She creates personalized treatment plans

Every patient journey is different. Some will see significant improvement solely with medical management. Others will require surgery sooner rather than later. Dr. Caballero follows current medical guidelines and uses maximal appropriate medical therapy before considering surgical options. But when surgery is necessary she uses the most advanced endoscopic surgical techniques to thoroughly address your condition and ensure a quick recovery.

She provides continuity of care

If you have a chronic condition, whether you are treated medically or surgically, the key to sustained improvement is continuity of care. Dr. Caballero follows each patient personally until your condition is under control. You can expect to be seen by her at each visit rather than by a physician’s assistant or nurse. She will also work with your other doctors to coordinate your care and develop a multidisciplinary approach to your condition.
